About Us

Welcome to Canada: Cultures and Colonialism to 1800.  This is a website designed by fourth-year history students in the 2010/11 class of HIST 4508: Cultures and Colonialism, Canada, 1600-1900 at York University.

On this site you will find brief and insightful descriptions of the students’ research projects.   The projects range in subject matter, covering the diverse people and places of the early-modern northeast. To navigate the site and read some of the papers click on one of the categories listed on the right.

See the course syllabus for a more detailed description of HIST 4508 and a list of readings and primary documents.  Please direct all questions about this website to Thomas Peace, the 2010/11 course director.
